Tsunami Studios
Tsunami Studios is a brand new production company in Hollywood that is moving faster than any other start-up motion picture outfit has in a long time. They’ve already made multiple contacts with many heavy-hitters in the industry and are already slated to release a variety of projects and films in the upcoming year. So when they asked me to quickly throw together a new logo, some identity materials, and a start-up website, I was more than happy to meet their needs immediately.
Beginning with their name and industry, I quickly collaborated with them on some ideas for look, feel, and iconographic elements regarding the branding, finally creating a logo that we agreed captured the fresh and modern attitude and style that they bring to the table. From that point on business cards and letterhead flowed organically, as well as the direction of the site.
The site I pulled together for them captured the same visual tone that we have been establishing for their company, and although they wanted a Flash intro, I think I was able to come up with a compromise that—in my mind—is revolutionary as it mimics the opening credits of a film without making the user have to click a “Skip Intro” button or wait through some hokey over-the-top animation session. Short, sweet, and to the point, the 3.7 second intro slickly brings you directly to the site without having to even think about whether or not your time is being wasted or what to do next. The information on the site itself is spare and direct, acting as an online calling card with a few in progress shots from their latest film with Jeff Bridges and Justin Timberlake, as well as a teaser section for their next project “The Power of Few” with Christian Slater and Christopher Walken. It’s basic, concise content at the moment with room for further development as the company and it’s achievements grow.
All done in a week and a half—very much at the speed of Hollywood—I believe this quick splash of identity and web development will provide Tsunami Studios with what they need to inundate tinsel town effectively.
