Delaware Association for the Blind

September 26th, 2006
DelawareAssociationForTheBlind.com

Announcing another site that I have had the honor of working on; a site that details a great organization that is helping those who at times perceive the world a little differently, the Delaware Association for the Blind.

The Delaware Association for the Blind (DAB) is a private, non-profit agency serving to improve the quality of life for legally blind and severely visually impaired adults and children in Delaware through a variety of education, counseling, and recreation programs. They have many great services and events such as Dinner Theaters, Baseball Game Outings, Picnics, Auto Rallies, Art and Music classes, descriptive video and book reading clubs, as well as a complete store to accommodate all of it’s patrons.

In order to give such a great organization the online viability it deserves, great strides were taken to ensure the maximum usability of the site for the variety of it’s visitors. Adherence to Section 508 standards, WCAG Guidelines, as well as valid, semantic XHTML and CSS coding were observed in the format, navigation, and content of the site to better ensure an accessible information space for all.

Enjoy the site and learn more about what the DAB is doing for the community of Delaware. Experiment with the different ways to view the web: either with a larger-that-original font face, in a low-vision format, or with no graphics at all.

PS - The NO GOOD site has been picked up by CSS-Mania, CSS-Bloom, Tom.ma, mostinspired, and CSS-Galleries! We actually got 700 hits in one day!

NO GOOD Re-Done (again)

September 5th, 2006
NoGoodDesigns.com

Before I left for the sunny shores of New Jersey (we went to Stone Harbor for vacation), I started revamping – once again – the NO GOOD site. And although I’ve been really busy since I returned, the drips and drabs of attention I’ve been able to give it have culminated into the completion of my next great site design: I give you the worked over NO GOOD DESIGNS.

The only real reason why the transition to the new format was so easy and fluid was due to the fact that I worked very hard to make the HTML pages that comprised the site into more and more semantically correct documents throughout it’s various stages. The lessons I learned long ago have shined through: the more semantic and bare your HTML is, the easier it is to edit, change, and update the styling. Very awesome.

As NO GOOD has always been a space for me to work out and expand upon the web design skills I gather from my day to day explorations, some of the new technologies used in the new site are:

Enjoy the new site and pick yourself up a shirt in celebration of the launch of nogooddesigns.com v.4.0. Oh, and P.S. - anoki.net has been accepted into the CSS-Website gallery and Netcocktail… hoohah!
